Borden Creek Trail (Trail 200)

Great family hike through the Sipsey Wilderness

Borden Creek Trail (a.k.a. Trail 200) features a walk through a canyon, a large waterfall, and caves (one of which the trail runs through!). The path is flat and easy to hike, and the sense of adventure waiting around every corner will ensure your family has a great time.

Part of the 26,000 acre Sipsey Wilderness, the largest Wilderness Tract in Alabama and third largest east of the Mississippi. The trail follows Borden Creek and is one of the most popular trails in the Wilderness Area. The trail is unmarked but well used so it’s easy to follow.

The trail starts in a canyon surrounded by sandstone walls, you will quickly come to a 50 foot waterfall and a 100 foot long cave. The creek passes through the cave and you can follow along if you wish. The trail joins the Sipsey River, then you will cross under CR 6 before coming to the Sipsey River Recreation Area. The Recreation Area is the halfway point and is where you turn around.

From Cullman:Take US 278 west for 44 miles to AL 33 in Double Springs. Turn Right and head 12 miles North on AL 33 to CR 6, Turn Left on CR 6. Continue until road splits stay right on FS 224, keep going for 3 miles until road ends at Trailhead
