East Cowpen Trail
Runs along the ridge crest of Cohutta Mountain
Description:
East Cowpen Trail used to be old GA Highway 2, but was eventually closed to vehicular traffic after the area was declared wilderness.
The trail provides direct access to Rough Ridge Trail, Hickory Ridge Trail, Panther Creek Trail, Rice Camp Trail, and Hickory Creek Trail, as well as indirect access to all of Cohutta’s trails.
The hike is moderately difficult traveling south to north, and strenuous from north to south.
