This is a very easy trail, it’s slightly over a mile in length. There are markers along the path that describe how the Cherokee Indians used various plants to make medicine. The kids really got a kick out of the “bedwetting” remedy.
We tried to find the spur trail that leads to Goldmine creek trail, but missed it the first time. It appears to be the opposite side of the lake from the beach (diagonal to the beach). We ran out of daylight so couldn’t afford to hike Goldmine that day.
Overall there are some decent trails around Fort Mountain, with the Gahuti Trail, at 8.8 covering the perimeter of the park.
