USS Alabama Historical Trail

Loop past historic buildings and museums in Mobile

Although this trail is not through a forest and its flora is limited, it is very educational and enjoyable to walk. It was created by the Boy Scouts as a badge and medal hike and begins at Forte Conde Welcome Center and Museum, passing by pretty much every historical attraction and museum the city has to offer in a long, squiggly loop.

Some of the main attractions include the old city hall, which has been converted to a museum, the Cooper Riverside park (complete with paddleboats and an authentic southern riverboat), the Catholic Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, which features intriguing statues and beautiful stained glass, and the headquarters of the Junior Miss competition.
